How quickly the summer days race along! The garden calls to me even in my dreams.
The delphiniums are my latest loves....
The colors and fragrances, watering and weeding are distracting me from dyeing or spinning or sewing...
Not entirely though...:)

In the midst of major tidy-ing up, I came across these little odds and ends of wool yarn. They were dyed with cochineal, indigo, and coreopsis flowers.
Coreopsis flower dye
I've been collecting these annual coreopsis flowers all summer. They're small but they pack a punch in the dye pot. These plants are getting a little ragged but are still popping out the blossoms.

The brew has a nice, fresh medicinal smell

Suddenly it's warm! The garden is joyful and beautiful. The back-yard colors inspire natural dyeing.
These silks were dyed with walnut hulls, coreopsis flowers, weld and indigo

December Silks
