Silk EmbroideryThread Natural Dyes on 5 Vintage Wooden Spools Shades of Red Pink Red-Violet Dyed with Madder Cochineal 20 Yards Each Spool

$21.00

This listing is for a set of 5 small vintage wooden spools wound with naturally dyed silk embroidery thread.
This silk thread is non-divisible.
The amount of naturally dyed silk thread on each spool ranges from about 20 to 22 yards.
These threads were dyed with cochineal and madder roots. The colors are unusual and hard to describe.
The colors include shades of of pink, red-violet, raspberry, and red.
(The fifth picture shows the skeins of silk from which these spools of thread were wound, drying on the clothesline after their final wash and rinse. The colors are a little lighter after they've dried.)

These silk threads were hand dyed and wound by me onto each vintage wooden spool.
The winding is not "machine-uniform"
Since these wooden spools have been previously used, they may have nicks, dents, and missing or damaged labels.
I've done my best to show the true natural shades of these silk threads.
Please remember that each computer monitor displays color in its' own way.

These naturally dyed silk threads are perfect any textile art project that could use a touch of lovely, natural color.
I recommend hand washing in cool water with mild soap and line drying in the shade to preserve the delicate luster and color of the silk.
These wooden spools wrapped with naturally dyed silk thread would be a lovely addition to a vintage spool collection.

Thanks for visiting!
